As electric power providers look for ways to become more efficient, it is becoming more apparent that having the ability to oversee the grid with fewer personnel is paramount to success. Among the issues facing grid operators is the ability to monitor sub-stations and security. With the threat of terrorism always lurking, providers are hard pressed to provide security along the length of the power distribution system.
Broadband wireless bridges have empowered operators to provide the necessary bandwidth to provide monitoring, communication, and security along the entire grid path. Whereas before, the operators were faced with the installation of expensive fiber, now broadband wireless can be had at a fraction of the cost and can be deployed rapidly.
